Your Doctors Reaction to Refusing Statins for Cholesterol?

by Sally Fulton
(USA)

What are your dr.s reaction to refusing statins? Did your doctor agree to dropping statins?

My experience has been, if you want to see how childish a doctor can be--tell him/her you aren't going to take statins.

Dr.s have yelled at me (literally) And become very angry.

In the most recent case, he ordered me never to come in the office again! And he wasn't even my dr.--only substituting for my primary that day.

A doctor "knows" he is right because the general standards of care say statins are the only way to prevent heart attacks.

The impression I get is that they must "folllow the crowd" to keep in good standing with other doctors.

This is more important than considering the patient's point of view.

LDL was high, TC was high. Triglycerides good, HDL good, ratios good. MD suggested low fat diet or else I will need statins. I have till May. I will ask for a nmr lipid profile that distinguishes the ldl. I’m not doing statins !! Shame on these doctors for not knowing current science

Thanks for this informative page. Doctors reaction is very serious and scares most people to not think for themselves. But heart disease and stroke are very big problems for everyone to solve, and starting with natural help is best.

Your Doctor's Reaction
by: Connie

Yes, it takes courage and thinking for yourself, and doing your homework, so good for you!!

It is true that doctors generally cannot deviate from the "protocol" they are required to follow.

Not only have they been told that statins work (and do not research the very small margin of actual benefit, and that people do not benefit by LIVING LONGER!) but they must follow what THEY are prescribed and of course they believe their drug reps too.

I know a professor of pharmacology who says to "NEVER LET ANYONE TINKER WITH YOUR CHOLESTEROL LEVELS."

Why? The benefits are MARGINAL while the risks are unknown.
