Best Face Cream for Wrinkles? Independent Scientists find which Anti Wrinkle Skin Cream really Works!

What’s in the best face cream for wrinkles and blemishes?

Is there any real hope for firming skin that’s sagging around the eyes, mouth and neck, or for fixing a “turkey neck”?

  • What is just hype, and what’s really been proven to get rid of red blotches, wrinkles, dark spots and saggy skin?

The good news?

Yes, say scientists, you can get your skin firm, radiant, clear of blemishes and youthful again. This has to be done by stimulating the building block of the deep skin, the collagen, to re-build into unblemished and firmer skin, and yes, this is definitely possible.

U-M dermatologists found that sagging, spotted and wrinkled skin is more straightforward to fix than what scientists originally thought. Scientists tended to believe that the aging of skin is a genetic problem, but we can all breathe a sigh of relief, because -- it is not genetic!

But, these researchers also found that if you don’t interrupt what’s causing your skin to sag, splotch and look old, it will keep going downhill.

The bad news?

The trouble is that just putting antioxidants, collagen, moisturizing face creams, and even spf face creams on top, no matter how expensive, this is not going to do it.

  • So, before you spend lots of money on face wrinkle cream and cleansers, we would like to help you find proven ingredients for buying the best anti aging skin cream.

Here’s a guide to the best face creams for re-building the collagen in the deep layer of your skin, which is what needs to happen for it to regain clarity, strength and youthfulness:

Scientists Find Best Face Cream for Wrinkles

Scientists at U –M spent over 10 years to help you figure out what works as a firming face cream for wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots and blemishes.

Because of the hype from the multi-billion dollar industry of anti aging skin cream, they wanted to let dermatologists and the public know what really works, and here is what they found:

  • Dermatologists at U –M with no ties to the cosmetic industry, funded by the National Institutes of Health, found very few things actually work to repair aging skin. (published in the Archives of Dermatology Vol. 144 (No. 5), May 2008.)
  • Fortunately, they did find what it is that will help rebuild our skin if it has dark spots, deep grooves, acne, sagging skin and wrinkles.

But most ingredients, they found to only work if injected under the skin, and even most laser treatments don’t work all that well:

Ingredients in Anti Wrinkle Skin Cream Cream that Work:

1.      retinoic acid, and retinol, both a form of Vitamin A

2.      bee venom

Laser Treatments that Worked:

Only carbon dioxide laser resurfacing was found to work well, because it removes the old dermis – the deeper layer of the skin in three weeks. Other, less powerful laser treatments did not work.

Ingredients that Work only as Injections:

Most ingredients such as hyaluronic acid had to be injected into the deep layer of the skin in order to work, e.g. injections of cross-linked hyaluronic acid worked, but not as an ingredient in a face cream, so don’t bother buying expensive skin creams with this in it!

What else doesn’t work?

U – M  researchers found that even other forms of Vitamin A, such as Vitamin A palmate can’t penetrate the skin, and Vitamin A palmitate and acetate do NOT work either, because this molecule does not penetrate the skin deeply enough.

Here’s how to pick the best anti wrinkle skin cream for you:

How to Choose a Face Cream for Wrinkles

Researchers found that prescription retinol  -- retinoic acid in face cream for wrinkles -- works best and that it is the most effective.

  • Over the counter face creams with retinol (a form of Vitamin A) also work, but they work much slower.

You can choose one of these to repair the collagen deep in your skin and to stimulate the growth of new, unblemished, firmer, plumper skin:

          1.  Retinoic acid is a prescription drug used to treat acne and aging effects.

Brand names of prescription retinoic acid are: Retin-A, Aberela, Renova, Aird, Avita, Retacnyl, Refissa, ReTrieve, Atralin, and Stieva – A.

Retinoic acid works well as an anti aging skin cream, but it can be drying and irritating, so it should only be used for short time periods.  Certainly use moisturizing face creams to help soothe your skin, but wait 15 minutes after putting these on.

          2. Over the counter skin creams with retinol also stimulate the growth of new, youthful  collagen to make your skin smoother, with less wrinkles, so you get a healthy glow.

Prescription retinoic acid is faster and better, but you have to be prepared for a red, irritated and peeling skin.

A big bonus?  Either face cream for wrinkles will also thicken your skin, so it is less likely to tear or bruise.  This is a good thing especially for older people whose skin becomes very fragile. A retinol skin cream can even protect against bedsores.

  • The down side of using a retinol cream is that it will irritate your skin and make your face more red or blotchy at first, with the skin peeling off.

So go ahead and choose a retinol cream that suits your needs, be it fast or slow.  Using it will certainly cause new cell production of collagen across the deeper skin layers.  You can look forward to a new youthful feel and look!

How Does an Anti Wrinkle Skin Cream Make New Skin?

How do retinol and bee venom work in face cream for wrinkles to make new skin? How do they help wrinkles, age spots on skin and prevent skin cancer?

Collagen is the main supporting substance in the deeper layer of skin called the dermis, underneath the thin outer layer.

  • If you think of your skin as a foam pillow with a thin cover, then as you get older, the original firm pillow under the cover begins to sag.

This “cushion” part of the skin, breaks down because the substance holding it up, the collagen, deteriorates and gets flat and saggy.

  • Collagen is held together by fibroblasts, and these break.

So, by the time you are 80 years old, researchers say you will have four times more broken down collagen than at age 20.  Only one third of the thickness of your skin is left when you are that old, so no wonder the skin of the elderly looks and feels thin and fragile.

You can see why most of the anti aging skin creams are NOT going to fix that!

Aging factors are complex, but they are basically “dissolving your skin” and this causes a vicious cycle.

  • If this process is not interrupted, your skin will continue to deteriorate and get worse, according to John Voorhees, MD, F.R.C.P, who conducted the independent studies on what stops skin from aging, at the Department of Dermatology at the U-M Medical School.

Fortunately, Dr. Voorhees found that this is not a genetic problem of the aging process! Phew - we can all relax!

  • Yes, our skin can be plumped up again and the broken fibroblasts can be coaxed to make more collagen for a thicker youthful skin.

Both age spots and acne dark spots can be helped!

  • Retinol creams stimulate a faster regeneration of new cells and more sloughing off of old collagen cells. This has an exfoliation effect that peels away dark spots of aging or sun damage, as well as acne impactions or comedones.

Which Vitamin stops Wrinkles?

Did you know that there is a little known vitamin in charge for getting the calcium you eat to go into your bones?

  • And if you don’t have enough of this vitamin, the calcium will get stored instead in the soft tissues – mainly in your skin and your arteries.  Why is this not good?

Deposited in your skin, calcium causes wrinkles, and in your arteries calcium deposits are dangerous and cause hardening of the arteries, or coronary heart disease called atherosclerosis.

  • You can clear your skin and your arteries by taking vitamin K2 which will get the calcium into your bones to prevent osteoporosis.

Find out more about vitamin K2 for your arteries and your skin!

  Kate Middleton and Bee Venom?

Yes, a Bee Venom mask also works as a face cream for wrinkles!

  • Dr. Oz promotes bee venom creams, and apparently Prince  Charles’ wife Camilla passed on the tip of a bee sting cream to Kate Middleton for her wedding day, for an extra smooth and glowing skin.  Why?
  • Considered by some as the natural botox, bee venom smoothes and tightens the skin by stimulating it to make more collagen.

Honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) venom (BV) has been used to speed wound healing for centuries.

Traditional Oriental medicine uses bee venom for pain relief especially for arthritis.

  • Now, modern researchers are confirming its “collagenolytic effect,” or its ability to stimulate the repair of collagen in the deep layer, which heals and firms the skin.

Using a bee venom cream should help renew and tighten your skin and to rid it of acne, dark spots and blemishes.

Which is the best face cream for you? You may want to try both a retinol daily face cream and the bee venom to see which agrees best with your skin as a firming face cream.

Your Best Face Cream for Wrinkles?

We hope to help you find a face cream for wrinkles that really helps you.

SPF face creams are a must, and of course use moisturizing face creams to protect, but very few will re-build the deeper layer of your skin.

  • Please let us know which turned out to be your best anti wrinkle skin cream. Did you use bee venom, an over the counter Retinol Cream, or did you get a prescription?
  • Over the counter face creams for wrinkles with retinol claim to be more gentle but as effective as a prescription without irritation. These will likely take longer to work – probably twice as long.

Good luck on re-building your skin, getting rid of age spots on skin, and finding the best anti wrinkle skin cream for you.

Retinol creams are now being considered to be anti skin cancer creams, so it helps not only as a face cream for wrinkles and age spots on the skin but also to prevent skin cancer by regenerating the skin.
