Dangerous Side Effects of Blood Cot Meds

Dangerous side effects of blood thinners can be SAFELY avoided!

Blood clot meds such as Coumadin’s increase your risk of dangerous bleeding because they stops your body from making the normal amount of vitamin K.

Vitamin K is the “KLOTTING” vitamin that your body uses to clot blood after an injury or cut – for NORMAL blood clotting.

How dangerous are the side effects of Coumadin?

  • The FDA requires that the company that makes the Coumadin medication put a "Black Box" warning label on it—the HIGHEST WARNING RED ALERT of any drug, so you do need to educate yourself about all the side effects of Coumadin!

  • For instance, your stool might be dark
  • If you fall you may bleed anywhere inside your body this is serious because you might die
  • If you have bruises but you don’t know how you got them
  • You might experience tingling or numbness anywhere

Over the age of 70?

Bleeding risk increases with blood clot meds for blood clots in brain

If you are over 70, blood clot meds are more likely to cause bleeding problems -- especially bleeding strokes or a Coumadin brain bleed.

If you're older than 75, or take other blood clot meds as well, so you will have to work with your doctor to make sure you have the right Coumadin dosage at all times!

A Coumadin overdose results in bleeding. Or a bleeding stroke if it is in the brain.

An overdose can be due to a Coumadin food interaction or Coumadin drug interactions, which can alter its action.

  • A correct dose of these blood clot meds is difficult -- there is a LONG Coumadin food list and potentially harmful drug interactions.

Hardening of Arteries = Long Term Effects of Coumadin?

Heart attack and stroke risk can be reduced naturally

Researchers report these (Warfarin) Coumadin long term side effects:

  • Greatly increased chance of bleeding strokes after the age of 70:

  • Hardening of the Arteries is a Coumadin Side Effects Long Term!

German researchers found out in 2005 that long term use of Coumadin produced increased calcium in the aortic valve and coronary arteries when compared to patients not taking Coumadin.

  • "Hardening of the arteries" is therefore one of main Coumadin side effects, and this is more dangerous than other known "risk factors." 1

WARNING: Why Avoid Long Term Coumadin Side Effects?

Know the facts about the side effects of blood thinners

If your doctor wants you to stay on Coumadin for the long term, is he or she aware of Dr. Gordon's warning?

  • WHAT IS THE PROBLEM with using Coumadin (Warfarin) long term? Well, it is not just a problem of Coumadin interaction.

There is a bigger problem!

Dr. Garry Gordon, author of the book The Omega 3 Miracle says:

  • “Every patient on Coumadin is increasing the calcium content of all vascular tissues.
  • The calcium content of arteries is now proven to be more dangerous than diabetes, elevated cholesterol or hypertension -- we must now try to educate patients."

Fortunately, scientists are discovering that Vitamin K2 helps prevent Calcium from Building up in Your Arteries!

Decreasing Your need for Blood Clot Meds

Blood clot risk can be reduced by diet

If you are concerned about the danger of Coumadin side effects (Warfarin), you can talk to your doctor and:

Explain your desire to forgo drug therapy in favor of a safer, more natural approach.

If you are not yet taking Warfarin and do not want the side effects of Coumadin, you can prevent problems with protective natural blood thinners (anticoagulants) that can stop blood clots naturally.

These are typically:

1) fish oils

2) vitamin E

3) Bromelain

4) Nattokinase

NOTE: Not all natural blood thinners are strong or effective enough if you already have heart disease.

Best to get feedback from your doctor from your INR results about your progress.

Vitamin K2 against Coumadin Side Effects?

Vitamin K2 can help clear arteries of calcium

Now here's something to wrap your mind around.  You've been told to avoid vitamin k, yes?

That's because Vitamin K is the CLOTTING VITAMIN!

  • The primary action of Coumadin (Warfarin) is to stop your body from producing a normal amount of Vitamin K.

So with less vitamin K your blood will not clot normally and therefore unwanted blood clots are less likely.

Now, not to be confused with vitamin K, Vitamin K2 actually can help you get out of this mess!

Why? The role of vitamin K2 is now being discovered as important for STOPPING CALCIUM FROM HARDENING THE ARTERIES!

  • So, getting more Vitamin K2 will help you overcome this!

New research is showing vitamin K2 to be a critical nutrient for patients with arteriosclerosis, because it has the potential to prevent and remove calcium from arteriosclerotic plaques thus making plaques easier to dissolve and less dangerous.

  • Inhibiting the production of vitamin K may not be what you want! Why? Because this defeats the purpose. CALCIFICATION of the arteries is the MAIN RISK for HEART DISEASE!

Reducing Blood Clot Meds Safely

No more simvastatin side effects muscle pain with natural supplements

If you want to discontinue using Coumadin (Warfarin) suddenly, you need to know that some researchers have found a REBOUND effect.

  • Although the evidence is mixed – there are reports from orthopaedic surgery trials – that if you stop Coumadin abruptly, there can be for a few months, a more than normal chance of forming blood clots, called a "rebound prothrombotic state" causing MORE blood clots. 2

Scientists have reported INCREASED clotting or hyper-coagulability due to stopping Warfarin abruptly.  (cessation of anticoagulation)

If you have the factors mentioned above, you will want to avoid having an INCREASED risk of forming blood clots DUE TO STOPPING COUMADIN suddenly, and phase it out slowly.

  • So you need to phase out Warfarin safely with the help of your doctor.

And, adding a proven heart health supplement will give increased protection:

Coumadin Alcohol Interaction?

Alcohol and side effects of blood thinners

If you are taking Coumadin and alcohol you will want to know that alcohol ENHANCES the effects of your Coumadin medication.

  • Coumadin alcohol enhancement can in lead to a Coumadin overdose, so if you want to enjoy a drink or drinks, make sure that you talk to your doctor and pharmacist about Coumadin and alcohol.

You will want to know the signs of a mini stroke, because a Coumadin overdose basically means that your risk for bleeding and bleeding stokes goes up dramatically:

  • Better yet, you may want to consider our recommended Enhanced Arginine Supplement instead that does need to be managed as carefully as your Coumadin dosage.

With a Coumadin substitute that works differently, you will no longer have to worry about a warfarin vitamin k diet, and you can take it alongside your Coumadin medication until your doctor says it is SAFE for you to STOP warfarin.

Coumadin Food List

surprising foods on list of blood thinners

What’s a proper diet for taking Coumadin?

While not a lot of research has been done on the exact proper diet for taking Coumadin, here’s a Coumadin food list -- to avoid getting Coumadin side effects.

  • Pomegranate juice, mango and cranberry juice have been shown to increase people’s INR reading even though these foods are NOT high in vitamin k, so go figure!

A Coumadin food interaction is more typical with foods high in vitamin k, so sometimes people think that their doctor has told them NOT TO EAT ANY GREENS.

Typically you will be advised NOT to take a multiple vitamin with vitamin k1 so as not to affect your Coumadin dosage.

  • However, research shows that you will NOT have a problem with vitamin k and Coumadin if your intake of foods with vitamin k is CONSISTENT – avoiding ups and downs, so that does not interfere with your Coumadin levels, or Coumadin dosage.

So no reason to take the following from the Coumadin food list if you understand the basics of Coumadin food interaction. VITAMIN K AND COUMADIN.

A typical Coumadin food list with vitamin k to be aware of includes beef liver and:

Leafy greens protect your heart

• Spinach

• Lettuce

• Cabbage

• Broccoli

• Parsley

• Swiss Chard

• Watercress

• Turnip Greens

• Mustard Greens

• Endive

Foods NOT high in vitamin k but still known to cause a Coumadin food interaction and your INR, are soy milk, cranberries, mango and pomegranate juice. Drinking these juices will affect our INR and your Coumadin dosage.

  • Please see your doctor and pharmacist for a full Coumadin food list and Coumadin food interactions, and if you are on other meds, for Coumadin drug interactions.
  • Best to add natural heart supplements that are safe to take alongside your Coumadin medication. This way your doctor reduces your Coumadin dose safely or phase it out.
