Alzheimers Disease: I Have My Mother Back from Alzheimers and Parkinsons
My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease over 10 years ago, and had been in a nursing home for three years. She also developed Parkinsons disease that has progressed over the years. The Parkinson’s caused her chin to move up and down as though she were trying to clamp her mouth open and shut, and her head jerked violently. Mother deteriorated so much that she became totally incontinent, no longer knew any of us; she stared into space with an empty look in her eyes, and no longer walked. She stopped eating and lost so much weight that she was just a shadow of her former self. My mother had two major surgeries in the spring of 2003. The Alzheimers had made her mentally, emotionally and physically emaciated, and I did not see how she could endure any more suffering. Then I learned about the importance of glutathione to the body, and I immediately talked with mom’s surgeon about writing an order for a nutraceutical to deliver the building blocks the body needs to make glutathione in the cells. It does not require a prescription but since mom is in a nursing facility they did need the doctor’s order to give it to her. We began with 2 packets a day of this special protein after she returned from the hospital. In about one month we began to see improvement. She started to eat again and her head stopped jerking. We were delighted! Shortly after that we began to notice Mom was reconnecting with us. Gradual improvements from the Alzheimers symptoms started happening, so we increased the nutraceutical to 3 packets a day. Then in October 2003 we brought Mom home from the nursing home for a few days and had a great time with her. She was talking much better and was very much improved. However, at that time she was taking nine prescription drugs. When we gave her the prepackaged medications they had sent home with her, she experienced severe side effects. We met with her doctor about it and he took her off six of the medications. In November, one of the remaining 3 medications she was taking was reduced.
Our Mother Was Returning To Us!
My Mother’s progress gives me so much joy to share. In April 2004, we brought her home for another visit. She talked so great and interacted with us so much by playing games with her grandchildren and delighted us with her sense of humor and memories we shared. She talked on the phone to her sisters and enjoyed the visits from family and friends. When I shared our home video of her with her physicians, they were amazed! Mother was still experiencing some side effects after we gave her the medication she was still on. With the video I was able to show the doctors how the medications affected her. Her doctors worked with us to get her off medications for she no longer needs. We were able to bring her home again, where she belongs. What does my Mother’s ordeal mean to me? In the spring of 2003 I had gotten on my knees beside mother’s bed one night and asked God to please help her, even if it meant taking her to heaven to end her suffering. I told God I knew there had to be a reason for what she was going through. I now believe that the reason was for me to find out about the importance of nutraceuticals that raise glutathione and sharing this information with others. Barbara F., Branson, MO, 2004
